Photography Educational Institutions

Many schools and colleges offer photography classes to students as an elective subject. However, there is no requirement to gain admission to an educational institution for a degree if you have studied photography for several years on your own or even taken some helpful classes on a non-formal basis.

Certainly you can learn the skills of a photographer even if you have not taken photography classes in school. But excellence in this field does require dedication, and more formal class training can be a great help.

Chiron - The Wounded Healer

Often, when I read articles about healers or different healing approaches, I think: “Oh, I should study some sort of healing therapy or learn some sort of formal, hands on healing technique.” Usually this voice represents a part of me that longs to connect more deeply with my own healing ability. What I forget is that we all have an inner healer within us whether that manifests in a vocation called “healer” or not. With this in mind, I can reaffirm that the powerful changes and transformations that have occurred in my life are all manifestations of my inner healer. Whenever I activate my inner healer I become in touch with the truest definition of healing; that of “whole making”.

Dancing In Context - Part 1

Like personal engagements with many forms of art, deciding whether to learn about the history of Argentine Tango depends largely on what type of relationship one wants with the dance. One need not be an expert on the difference in time signature or tempo between valses and milongas or on the effects of the anti-Peronist political coup on the popularity and accessibility of tango music and social dancing, for example, to be attracted to and enjoy taking tango classes or dancing socially or to spectating dance or musical performances. And it would be reductive to argue that knowing this information equates to more proficient dancing. This does not mean, however, that there is little value in historical and contextual investigation. In fact, I argue that knowing about the historical and rhetorical context of any part of our lives better equips us to articulate the reasons for our life choices. And this is exactly the point. Having access to knowledge can help us establish, however tentatively, what kind of relationship we want with the dance, what kind of students and teachers and dancers we are and want to be, and what tango adds to our lives. This, of course, can change as our dancing experiences and dancing relationships change, and it is within this adventure that the beauty of the art lies.

Learning Piano Chords - Part 1

Learning how to play piano chords is a multi-step process. What this article is about today is some key introductory points, general piano tips to consider before you set out on your journey of learning piano chords.

I’m just going to list a couple of piano tips but these are critical issues in my view- ones that should not be overlooked.

First off, let’s look at piano chord books or piano chord manuals. When I look at the books, and I continuously am always looking for the “latest and the greatest” ones, I am particularly amazed at the multitude of chord piano books that have a photo of a hand where the fingers are placed on the picture of the keyboard! We do not want that and here’s why…
